2024 Neuwieder Knuspermarkt: A Festive Christmas Market in the Heart of the City
The much-anticipated 2024 Neuwieder Knuspermarkt (Gingerbread Market) is set to return to Neuwied's city center, gracing Luisenplatz with its charming Christmas ambiance from late November until just before Christmas.
Key features of this year's market include:
- Enchanting gingerbread-style houses: The market boasts a collection of stalls designed to resemble delightful gingerbread houses, adding to the festive atmosphere.
- A treasure trove of unique finds: Visitors can explore a diverse range of goods, including decorative items, unusual jewelry, warm woolens, and handmade crafts, all sourced from professional artisans, local traders, clubs, kindergartens, and social institutions.
- Advent music program: A series of Christmas concerts will be held throughout the market period, catering to a variety of musical tastes and enhancing the festive atmosphere.
- Children's Knusperland: This special area dedicated to children promises a magical experience, making the market particularly family-friendly.
New additions to Children's Knusperland this year include an oversized snow globe and decorated huts. The theme for 2024 is heroes from films and series, with characters such as Bibi Blocksberg, Bob the Builder, and Ice Age animal stars set to make an appearance.
The market will open on Friday, 22nd November at 5 pm, and will run until 23rd December. Food stalls and mulled wine/Feuerzangenbowle stands will adjust their hours based on how busy it is.

In addition to the stalls, the regional hut "Amalie" and the social hut will also be present at the market. New this year, children from some Neuwied kindergartens have crafted decorations for individual trees on the Knuspermarkt.
Children can also participate in workshops to make Christmas tree decorations with Hannah Homut on Wednesdays at 4 pm, and baking cookies with Bäckerei Preißing is available on two Saturdays, 7th and 14th December, from 1 to 4 pm.
Neuwied's Mayor, Jan Einig, has expressed his support for the early opening of the Knuspermarkt, which was well-received last year and will be repeated this year.
