Collective Efforts in the Battle Against Impoverishment

Fifty-two individuals, aged between 25 and 46, gathered at the Gemeindealpe in Mitterbach, Austria, for a unique dating event organized by the Vienna-based agency "Slow Dating." The participants, separated into two age groups, were a mix of professionals, outdoor enthusiasts, and city dwellers.

The event, dubbed "Lifted Date," took place on a Sunday in May and quickly sold out. Prior to ascending the mountain, participants were required to register online or by phone.

Upon arriving, participants were divided into groups of four, with equal numbers of men and women. Helena Spindler, founder of "Slow Dating," led the event. She provided conversation starters and had participants converse with everyone in their group of the opposite sex.

The first chairlift ride led to discussions about personal experiences and shared interests. As participants descended and reconvened, they were topically grouped and ascended together for another round of interactions.

During the shared meal at a hut, participants continued conversations and made initial dates. Some connections formed immediately, while others awaited contact details to be exchanged through the organization.

Interestingly, while some participants voiced their concerns about dating in such an event, the organizers, Slow Dating, have found consistent success with their events in Vienna, offering initiatives such as silent dating and canoeing, in Stockerauer Au.

Following the success of the event, the organizers have planned additional dates for the fall. The September 6th and 7th events will cater to individuals over 46 and the LGBTQ+ community, with a hiking event also scheduled for June 5th. Age restrictions and fitness levels apply for these events, and more information can be found on the Slow Dating Events website.

No relevant data could be found regarding upcoming Slow Dating events specifically in the Mariazeller Land region during 2021. To learn more about local dating events or event calendars from 2021, consult local tourism boards, event platforms focused on Austria, or check official Mariazeller Land websites.

At the September 6th and 7th events, participants can discuss their shared interests in lifestyle activities like sports, as Slow Dating is planning events catering to individuals over 46 and the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, for those who appreciate home-and-garden hobbies, they may find potential partners at the June 5th hiking event, organized by Slow Dating in the Mariazeller Land region.
