City Council Approves €2M Modernization Plan for Haus Scheppen Area
The city council has approved a significant modernization project for the 'Haus Scheppen' area at Baldeneysee, focusing on safety, accessibility, and future-proofing. The plans, costing around 2 million euros, are set to begin construction in 2026 and are based on extensive public participation.
The council has passed a planning resolution to upgrade the surroundings of Haus Scheppen, aiming for a safe, barrier-free, and future-oriented design. The modernization includes redesigning the entrance area and dock, renovating the lakeside path, and making parking lot P1 barrier-free by the time of the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) Metropole Ruhr 2027.
Long-term plans for the area include family-friendly facilities, new open spaces, and better connection to the Hesperange railway. These improvements aim to enhance the overall visitor experience and ensure the area remains attractive and accessible for years to come.
The modernization of the Baldeneysee shore, including the Haus Scheppen area, is a key part of the preparations for the IGA Metropole Ruhr 2027. With the council's approval, the administration will now proceed with further processing, ensuring the project remains on track for its 2026 construction start.
