Camilla, the Queen, reveals the adoption of a rescue dog as her latest companion.
Camilla Adopts New Rescue Pup Moley After Loss of Beth
Following the unexpected passing of her beloved dog, Beth, last November, Queen Camilla has adopted a new companion - a eight-week-old rescue puppy named Moley. During an outing in Canterbury on February 25, Camilla shared the exciting news with a passerby, hinting at the need for a top-notch puppy chow.
As it turns out, Moley, a female rescue from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where Camilla is a devoted patron, boasts a unique mixed-breed lineage. When asked to elaborate, the queen quipped, "Well, you may well ask! It's a bit of everything. It's a rescue dog ... Called Moley, looks just like a mole!"
Camilla's new furry friend joins her other loyal canine companion, Bluebell, who she adopted in 2011 from the same shelter. Bluebell was found wandering in a London park with a painful skin condition, and while Beth sadly passed away due to an untreatable tumor, both pets have left their paw prints on Camilla's coronation gown in golden thread.
Besides Beth and Bluebell, the late Queen Liz was known for her love of corgis throughout her reign. In fact, she had over 30 corgis from 1952 to 2022 and always kept at least one by her side from 1933 to 2018. The famous monarch also loved dorgis (dachshund-corgi mixes), with at least 10 swirling in and out of Buckingham Palace during her lifetime.
Upon Queen Liz's demise in September 2022, her son, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, adopted her remaining two corgis, Sandy and Muick. Interestingly, Muick was gifted to Queen Liz in 2021 to lift her spirits while her husband, Prince Philip, recuperated from heart surgery. Tragically, Muick's predecessor, Fergus, passed away from a heart defect at the tender age of five months. To console the queen, the family later presented her with Sandy as a gift.
