Berlin Wall Pieces Find Permanent Home in Euskirchen School Garden

Two significant pieces of the Berlin Wall have found a permanent home in the nature garden of Marienschule in Euskirchen. The installation was made possible through generous donations, with the Bethe Foundation leading the way with a contribution of 3,000 euros.

The civic foundation 'We for you' of the city of Euskirchen also played a role, donating 500 euros to the project. The acquisition, transport, and assembly of the wall pieces were funded entirely through such donations and supporters, ensuring no cost to the school's support association.

Mayor Sacha Reichelt sees the wall as more than just a historical artifact. He hopes it will serve as a reminder to tear down mental barriers between East and West Germans. School principal Michael Mombaur shares this sentiment, stating that the wall pieces aim to encourage reflection and exchange among students.

The Berlin Wall pieces now stand as a symbol of unity and reflection in the garden of Marienschule, thanks to the combined efforts of the Bethe Foundation, the civic foundation 'We for you', and other donors. They serve as a tangible reminder of the past and an inspiration for the future.
