In the heart of Oberbilk, Erika Jensch has been a beacon of hope and support for over two decades. Since taking the helm of the "Bread for the Day" project in 2002, she has dedicated herself to the accompaniment and motivation of the voluntary helpers, ensuring that the project continues to provide essential aid to approximately 170 households in the district.

The "Bread for the Day" project, established in 1999 by Erika Jensch and others in the St. Josef community, was born out of a response to the challenging social situation and daily aid requests in Oberbilk. Erika's commitment to the project is evident in her hands-on approach, where she prepares, cleans the premises, and receives the boxes of food for the project's distribution days, which take place early in the morning, twice a week.

Erika Jensch's dedication to the community extends beyond "Bread for the Day". She has been actively involved with the Oberbilk Citizens' Association since 1984, contributing in various ways, including organising annual receptions, street festivals, and the St. Martin's procession. Her long-standing voluntary commitment in the social and charitable sector has earned her distinguished merits, culminating in the Martinstaler award from the city of Düsseldorf in recognition of her voluntary commitment.

Despite the lack of detailed information about the timeline and impact of the "Bread for the Day" initiative, it is clear that Erika Jensch's intensive care has led to an increase in employees and volunteers for the project in recent years. The project continues to be located in the St. Josef community in Oberbilk, a testament to Erika's unwavering commitment to the community she serves.
