The 2025 Sustainable Flower Festival: A Magical Faery-Tale Experience

Prepare for an enchanting adventure as the 2025 Sustainable Flower Festival, themed "The Faery Tale Castle," comes to life at Strawberry Hill House & Garden from September 12 to 14.

This year's festival promises to transform the venue into a captivating faery-tale realm, filled with imaginative displays inspired by folklore and fairy legends. Expect to encounter spinning wheels, a witch’s perfumery, flying carpets, a goblin market, and a giant spider in the gardens.

Key features of the festival include:

  • Over 50 UK pioneering floral artists creating spellbinding, creative floral displays. All displays will be made using only British flowers and sustainable techniques, free from floral foam and single-use plastics.
  • The materials used are locally sourced, foraged, or grown by the florists themselves, ensuring no imported blooms or wasteful packaging. The festival stands apart from typical flower shows in both spirit and sustainability.
  • A strong focus on sustainability ensures that the only waste produced goes to compost.
  • The event is guest curated by botanical artist Gaia Eros and founder Leigh Chappell.
  • The festival promotes conscientious creativity, crafting beauty that leaves no environmental trace.

Among the floral artists, Acacia Creative Studio will be showcasing their work, known for their magic at the 2025 RHS Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court.

The festival also offers a range of workshops and events. On Friday 12 September at 12:00 PM, the Dried Flowers Workshop, led by dried-flower artist Layla Robinson, will take place. On the same day, at 6:30 PM, the Talk & Tour (Late) event will take place, featuring an after-hours tour and a live floral performance from Sophie Powell.

On Saturday 13 September, the Floral Arrangement & Photography Workshop, led by Leigh Chappell and Janne Ford, will be held at 12:00 PM. The Candlelit Castle Tour (Late) event will take place from 6:00-8:00 PM, allowing visitors to explore the house by candlelight.

Strawberry Hill House, the venue for the festival, is a celebrated Gothic villa created in the 18th century by Horace Walpole. The house and garden have been open to visitors for over 250 years and are internationally famous as Britain's finest example of domestic Georgian Gothic revival architecture.

Tickets for the festival can be booked via strawberryhillhouse.org.uk/flower-festival. OLMS Bamboo Pods, water vials made from a by-product of bamboo and fully compostable, will be used throughout the festival. Yan Skates is designing a visible mechanic for these pods at the festival.

The UK's most sustainable flower festival returns, combining artistic innovation with environmental responsibility in a historic gothic setting. Don't miss out on this magical experience!
