Almaty Plants 'Women's Alley' for International Women's Day
In celebration of International Women's Day, the Almaty Green Economy Department and the Jetisu district akim's apparatus organised a tree-planting event in the Kokzhaik microdistrict of the Jetisu district. Women leaders, including Natalia Livinskaya, Gulnara Kokobaeva, and Aigan Skakova, joined the initiative to plant 200 saplings of chestnuts and lilacs in the newly established Women's Alley.
The Women's Alley, the first of its kind in Almaty, is a symbol of empowerment and environmental conservation. The event marked a significant step towards the Green Economy Department's ambitious goal of planting 350,000 trees this year and 1 million trees over the next three years. UZE provided the saplings and necessary equipment for the planting event.
The department emphasises the importance of caring for the planted trees in the Women's Alley and across the Jetisu district for the next two years. With a total of 4,500 saplings planned for the district, maintaining their health will contribute to the region's greening and environmental sustainability.
The successful Women's Alley tree-planting event highlights the commitment of local authorities and women leaders to environmental conservation and sustainable development. With proper care, the 200 saplings planted will grow into a beautiful alley, serving as a reminder of the strength and resilience of women and their role in shaping a greener future.
