Advocacy for Increasing Stock of Tables under 'Buy More' Initiative
Fancy Helping a Cause, Oldenburg Folks?
Get ready to lend a hand, Oldenburgers, because the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs have cooked up a fantastic initiative this year: "BUY ONE MORE"! This project aims to bolster the TAFEL Oldenburg, our city's very own food bank. On a fun-filled action day at the Göhler Straße shopping center, members spent their day rallying shoppers from EDEKA, dm, and ALDI to join the cause. Their goal was simple: ask kind-hearted folks to pick up one extra item, toss it in a nearby cart, and voila—they'd be supporting the TAFEL Oldenburg!
But what items, you ask? The wish list featured the basics: pasta, rice, flour, and the occasional canned good, all vital to a well-rounded meal. And let's not forget the hygiene products and detergents—those are essential, too! Driven by compassion, the community responded wonderfully, with smiles all around: "Awesome initiative, guys!"
After five action-packed hours, it was time to wrap up. In total, thirteen large shopping carts were brimming with goodies, ready to make their way to TAFEL Oldenburg's storage rooms!
Uwe Lankau, Rotary President, and Susanne Knees, our local Rotary community service project leader, couldn't contain their excitement. "It was a resounding success!" they declared, beaming from ear to ear. Special thanks went out to EDEKA and dm for their awesome support!
Jörg Zander, TAFEL Oldenburg's chairman, was nothing short of amazed by the outpouring of support. He thanked the volunteers warmly for their stellar efforts. As the "MORE" items were carefully loaded onto TAFEL's expansive truck, the community stood united, knowing that they had made a real difference in someone's life.
Now, you might wonder: was it really that successful? Well, let's break it down. Rotary and Rotaract Clubs have a knack for engaging their local communities and partnering with amazing organizations like TAFEL. Plus, the "BUY ONE MORE" concept is a breeze to understand, making it accessible to everyone. So, while we can't provide you with exact numbers, it's safe to say this project had a fantastic impact! Just imagine, a bit of extra shopping can go a long way in helping our community. Thanks for being awesome, Oldenburgers! 💪💛💙
