Bonn's renowned museums warmly invite you to the Museum Mile Festival, a grand celebration taking place over the upcoming weekend. The central focus of this event is sustainability.

Access granted for complimentary admission to the Bonn Museum Mile Festival.

This weekend, visitors in Bonn have the opportunity to participate in the Museums Mile Festival, a celebration centered around sustainability at five major museums. From May 31st to June 1st, attendees can engage in music, theater, workshops, and interactive activities designed for the whole family.

Along the Bonn Mile, the Museum Koenig, the House of History, the Bonn Art Museum, the Federal Art Hall, and the German Museum will all participate, each offering unique experiences.

The Museum Koenig encourages visitors to contribute to building or repairing nesting boxes and provides information on rainforest and savannah ecosystems, as well as vegetarian food options. The Bonn Art Museum hosts a workshop on creating pictures and sculptures from trash, led by local artist Jens Mohr.

The House of History invites participants to take part in cleaning up the Rhine riverbank and promises a reward afterward. For those who prefer a behind-the-scenes look, tours of the collection depot are available, offering insights into preserved cultural heritage from flood threats like the Semper Opera grand piano from Dresden.

The German Museum explores the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in environmental projects and city climate improvement. Visitors can even design the city of the future with AI assistance.

In addition to interactive activities like camera tinkering, the Federal Art Hall offers a cultural and music program on the rooftop. This includes a children’s music show, jazz performances in the afternoon, and a sundowner program until 10 PM on Saturday.

Throughout the festival, free admission is provided, and a complimentary shuttle bus connects the main museums, encouraging everyone to join. Programs are designed to be inclusive, with barrier-free access and activities in simple language.

The Museums Mile Festival aims to make sustainability tangible and enjoyable through interactive, hands-on, and communal experiences, demonstrating museums' role in promoting sustainable futures.

At the Museum Koenig, visitors can join a workshop to create pictures and sculptures from trash, aligning with the home-and-garden lifestyle of recycling and upcycling. Moreover, during the festival at the Federal Art Hall, a music program featuring children's shows, jazz performances, and a sundowner event until 10 PM on Saturday, blends the realms of music and lifestyle, enriching the weekend experience.
