Aachen's Mobility Week returns in the year 2025
Sunday, September 21, will see the 'Mobility special' event take place in the city of Aachen, as part of the European Mobility Week (EMW) which runs from September 16 to 22 this year. The theme for this year's EMW is 'Mobility for all'.
During the week-long event, Aachen will showcase various mobility offers and traffic topics, with an information stand at the 'Mobility special' event. City employees and ASEAG will be present to provide information about mobility planning and offers.
One of the highlights of the EMW programme in Aachen is the European Steps Challenge, taking place parallel to the week-long event for the first time. Citizens throughout Europe are invited to participate by downloading the Walk15 app and selecting Aachen as their city. Participation is simple, and the challenge aims to promote well-being and the cities.
The Aachener 'Mobility Challenge' also includes a lottery for participants. As part of the challenge, Aachen is participating in the one-week step challenge as part of the European Mobility Week.
In addition to the European Steps Challenge, several bicycle tours are part of the EMW programme. Tours titled 'Built close to the water', 'Make room', 'Peak conqueror', and Schleichwege tours will offer participants a unique opportunity to explore the city while promoting sustainable mobility.
The focus of EMW is on sustainable mobility, and as such, the city of Aachen is offering free test weeks for various modes of transport during the event. Test weeks for E-bikes, speed pedelecs, E-cars, and electric scooters (E-mopeds) will give residents and visitors the chance to try out these environmentally-friendly transportation options.
Moreover, the SmartCity Demonstrator, built by primary school children, will be in action in the city library from September 16 to 19. Storytime for children from the age of three will also be held in the city library, Depot, and Haaren branches during EMW.
